Brad Paisley hailed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Madison Square Garden wedding as the “most casual” wedding he’s ever attended.
“Ironically, it was one of the most casual weddings I’ve ever seen or will ever see,” the country music star told The Associated Press on Saturday.
“When I received the invitation, I took it personally because it said, ‘If you accept this, you are very important to us.'”
The Grammy winner revealed that after receiving the invitation, it was a “game of cat and mouse” finding the exact location for the celebration.
“I’ll give you the general location. I won’t say which building. Here’s the date. If you get in, I’ll tell you more,” Paisley recalled of the invitation.
“It meant a lot (to be invited). It was like a huge thank you from her for inviting us,” he concluded.
The songwriter’s defense comes after fans and other celebrities publicly bashed the lavish wedding celebration, including Charles Barkley, who called the event a “shit show.”
Paisley and Swift have a long-standing mentor-to-mentor relationship dating back to the early days of the pop star’s career.
In 2007, he invited the 17-year-old Swift to be the opening act on his Bonfires & Amplifiers tour, catapulting her to stardom as a young country artist.
Swift and Kelsea, both 36, tied the knot on July 3 at the iconic New York City venue in front of more than 1,000 guests.
Page Six exclusively reported that the couple spent around $20 million to $25 million on their star-studded wedding.
The wedding was hosted by comedian Adam Sandler and had a garden theme.
