BLACKPINK member and actor Jisoo will receive the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award at the international series festival Cannes Series, which will be held in Cannes from April 23rd to 28th.
The award, which celebrates personalities who have become major figures in the industry, will be presented at the festival’s opening ceremony on April 23. Previous winners include Sidney Sweeney, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Marie Colon, Ella Purnell, Morfydd Clarke and Phoebe Dynevor.
Cannes series artistic director Alvin Lewis said Jisoo’s “artistic journey, ability to conquer new creative territory and global aura” made her the ideal winner. He said the upcoming ceremony was “already shaping up to be one of the highlights of this new season”.
Since debuting as Blackpink in 2016, Jisoo has built one of the most prominent names in global pop culture, with sold-out world tours and record-breaking streaming numbers. As a solo artist, she has over 80 million followers on Instagram, making her one of the most followed Korean talents on the platform.
In recent years, Jisoo has been building a parallel career as an actor. She made her first TV lead role in the 2021 Korean series “Snowdrop” and received a lot of attention from home and abroad, and then made a special appearance in the 2023 movie “Dr. Chong and the Lost Talisman.” In 2025, she starred in both the film “The Omniscient Reader: Prophecy” and the series “Nutopia.” Recently, she appeared as Seo Mi-rae in the Netflix series “Boyfriend on Demand,” which began streaming on March 6th.
Her acting work has been recognized at multiple award ceremonies, including Best New Actress at the 2nd DDU Awards, Best Actress in a Series at the Brazil Acerbo Awards, and Best Korean Drama Actress and Asian Star Award (International Category) at the Seoul International Drama Awards.
