Page Six has confirmed that Bitcoin has been deposited into the account associated with Nancy Guthrie’s ransom note.
About $152 worth of bitcoins appeared in the account’s public logs on Tuesday.
TMZ first reported the news of the deposit.
This latest development comes hours before the Pima County Sheriff’s Office revealed it had taken a person into custody for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
The individual was arrested during a traffic stop in Rio Rico, Arizona, south of Tucson and near the Mexican border.
The department also announced that, with assistance from the FBI Evidence Response Team, it had obtained a search warrant for a location in Liorico related to the investigation.
Additionally, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed in an interview with Fox News Tuesday night that federal agents are investigating a “person of interest.”
“Without tainting the investigation, I can say that thanks to the technical capabilities of the FBI and our partnership, we have made significant progress in the last 36 to 48 hours. We are confident that we are focusing on what we call a person of interest,” he explained.
After the man was released, he identified himself only as Carlos to ABC15 Arizona’s Ford Hatchett.
He maintains his innocence, explaining that he “might have delivered a package” to the home of Nancy, who works for GLS, but that he doesn’t know who she is.
After the man denied knowing anything about Nancy’s abduction, he was told by officers that he was “free to go”.
Earlier in the day, the FBI released a series of chilling photos and videos of potential suspects.
Horrifying images taken from a Nest camera installed on Nancy’s front door showed an armed figure wearing a ski mask tampering with her home’s security cameras the morning she was reported missing.
Nancy, 84, disappeared from her Arizona home on January 31st after being dropped off by her son-in-law Tommaso Cioni after a family dinner.
She was reported missing on February 1 after failing to arrive at a friend’s house the next morning to attend a virtual church service.
The next day, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that Nancy’s home was being treated as a crime scene. It is believed that Nancy was “taken from her home against her will, probably in the middle of the night.”
Ever since their mother disappeared, Savannah and her siblings Annie and Camron have been begging for her return.
In a particularly moving video uploaded on February 7, the Today show host said: “Please give us back our mother now so we can celebrate together. This is the only way we can have peace. This is something that is very valuable to us and we will pay for it.”
Meanwhile, NBC has increased security and police presence at its New York City studios on “high alert” to “tense”.
Savannah’s co-hosts expressed on air how “rattled” they felt, with Sheinelle Jones saying, “A lot of us (are) having trouble sleeping.”
