Produced by France’s 5 à 7 Films and distributed…
Jeff Probst lived to tell this story. The longtime host revealed what ruined the outcome of the all-important challenge during Wednesday’s live “Survivor 50” finale. During the three-hour broadcast, Probst incorrectly announced before the broadcast that contestant Rizo Verovich had lost the fire-starting challenge and was the final juror. “What’s happening when you’re doing the finale of ‘Survivor’ is you’re running the show, the episode, and you’re doing these live hits where I come out and talk to one of these players. I’m not watching the show,” Probst elaborated on Thursday’s “CBS Mornings.” Jeff Probst (pictured on Thursday’s “CBS Morning”)…

Lupita Nyong’o has broken her silence in response to harsh criticism for her role as Helen of Troy in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Some of that criticism came from Elon Musk. “You can’t play beauty,” the actress told Elle about the backlash to her role as “the most beautiful woman in the world” in a profile published Thursday. “I want to know who the characters are. What’s beyond beauty? What’s beyond appearances? That’s what it means to do a famous text like this that’s been studied and interpreted and derived from,” she continued. “The research can never end. The good…

First of all, kudos to the Television Academy for finally doing something about the boring talk and scripted variety show categories. A revival of the category that combines great variety series was needed, given that networks and streamers are scaling back their talk and sketch show ambitions and submissions are dwindling. Last year, there were only three nominees in the talk category, and only two in the scripted variety category. It wasn’t sustainable. The problem with the talk and scripted variety (and before that, sketch) categories is that these types of shows are often very different. What Jimmy Fallon does…
