Alec Baldwin has hit back at Elon Musk, who criticized the appearance of Lupita Nyong’o, who was cast as Helen of Troy in The Odyssey.
“Dear Elon…but she is the most beautiful woman in the world…Alec,” the “30 Rock” alum, 68, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the actress.
Baldwin’s comments came just days after conservative commentator Matt Walsh slammed Mr.
On May 12, Walsh tweeted about the upcoming Christopher Nolan film, saying, “There’s not a single person on earth who actually thinks Lupita Nyong’o is the most beautiful woman in the world.”
“But Christopher Nolan knows that if he gives the role of ‘Most Beautiful Woman’ to a white woman, he will be called a racist.
“Nolan is technically gifted, but he’s a coward. He’s too scared to do anything that even slightly challenges the zeitgeist.”
Mr Musk, 54, agreed with Mr Walsh, writing: “It’s true.”
When someone asked, “Why is Christopher Nolan, like so many other directors, so keen on race-swapping his white characters?”, the owner of X replied, “He wants awards.”
Musk added that Nolan “lost his integrity” by casting the Oscar-winning actress, 43, in the role.
Earlier this month, Musk was furious over rumors that trans actor Elliot Page had been cast as Trojan War hero Achilles.
The billionaire wrote to X that the idea was “one of the stupidest and most twisted things I’ve ever heard.”
After it was announced that Page would indeed be playing the character Elpenor, Musk reposted a tweet that read, “I’m not mocking her masculinity. I’m denying its existence.”
Musk has a transgender daughter named Vivian, but they have been estranged for several years.
Nolan, 55, also faced backlash for casting rapper Travis Scott in his new film.
However, the filmmakers defended their decision to add a “Sicko Mode” host, saying they cast Scott because they wanted to “nod to the idea that this story has been passed down as oral poetry, similar to rap.”
