According to ComScore, Universal’s Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale debuted first place in the UK and Ireland, earning £4.3 million ($5.8 million).
Sony’s “Demon Slayer: Kimett No Yaiba Infinity Castle” followed in second place with $4.6 million. Warner Bros.’ “The Conjuring: Last Rites” continued to perform well in the second week, adding $3.8 million with a cumulative $16.6 million.
Lionsgate’s “The Long Walk” started fourth with $1.5 million, while Disney’s “The Roses” came fifth, winning $1.2 million for a total of $9.9 million.
Further down the charts, Universal’s “The Bad Guys 2” came in sixth at $380,851, bringing it to $17.6 million in total. Sony’s mockmentary sequel, “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues,” debuted its seventh at £291,005. Disney’s “Freakier Friday” was the eighth of $284,080, followed by $11.5 million so far.
Warner Bros. rounded out the top 10. “Weapons” was ranked 9th at $15.6 million overall, adding $175,772, while Liberator Film Services opened on “Next of Normal” at $10th at $164,836.
This week we bring a wide range of films to the UK and Ireland. On Wednesday, the Trafalgar release will be releasing Gavin Elder’s concert film, “David Gilmore Live at Circus Maximus, Rome.”
On Friday we’re watching some films arrive. Sony Pictures will bring you a “big bold, beautiful journey” directed by Cogonada and starring Margot Robbie’s Colin Farrell.
Miracle Comms will release Pakistani animation feature “The Glassworker,” released by Vertigo and announce the drama “Ring of the Ring,” starring Emily Bett Rickards, Josh Lucas, Tyler Posey and Walton Goggins. Dartmouth’s film contributes to the documentary “Convicted: The Case of Lucy Letby.” Directed by Daniel Bocado.
Additional entries include Jade Films action title “Shepherd Code, The Road Back,” Tape Collective’s sci-fi film “Can I Get a Witness?”, Magnetes Pictures’ Polish comedy franchise film “Tesciowie 3,” Bakrania Media’s Indian comedy franchise film “Jolly LLB 3” and “Tape by bishan’s “Tape” Break Out Pictures will release the drama romance “Girls & Boys,” directed by Donchana Gilmore, while Tull Stories will feature Fiona Cunningham-Reid’s documentary “Ackroyd & Harvey: The Art of Introducing “Activism.”
Signature Entertainment will be releasing the animated adventure “Diplo: The Mighty Dinosaur” on over 300 screens, releasing anti-world and releasing the comedy “Ebony & Ivory.” New Wave presents the Cannes Boeing thriller “Ghost Trail,” directed by Jonathan Millet. Modern Films offers the “Solo” winner of Toronto and Palm Springs, while Neo Sora’s Venice emits a “happy ending” while Peccadillo’s photos provide the “Solo” winner of Toronto and Palm Springs.
Highlights of the weekend include a 60th anniversary presentation of “Sounds of Music” in over 300 cinemas, marking the 60th anniversary of Trafalgar’s release, as well as a 4K restoration double bill for the “Thunderbirds” episode via the hammer/icon and the “Thunderbirds” episode of “New York City Terrorism.” ) Finishing the lineup is to close the film lineup with Trafalgar’s releases, “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies” and “Andrea bocelli: Andrea bocelli: Because I believe.”
