Owen Cooper won Emmy for his outstanding support actor on Sunday in a limited or anthology series or film, with his work in the Netflix miniseries “Youth”.
Along with Cooper, the limited series candidates supporting the actor category included Javier Bardem for his performance on Netflix’s Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
“It’s so surreal to be standing here. Honestly, when I started classes in these dramas a few years ago, I didn’t even expect to be in the US, let alone be here,” Cooper said in a humble acceptance speech. “But I think tonight, if you listen and focus and leave your comfort zone, you’re proving that you can achieve anything in life. I had nothing about three years ago. I’m here now.”
The 15-year-old British actor Cooper has been nominated for playing Jamie Miller in the Netflix miniseries “Adolescents.” This was his breakout role. He became the youngest male acting winner in Emmy’s history. Newcomer is scheduled to play Callum in the upcoming BBC drama series “Film Club” and was cast as a young Heathcliff in the upcoming adaptation of Emerald Fennell in “Wuthering Heights,” starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie.
