In a competitive situation, Netflix has earned the right to develop a series version of the Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs novel.
Hannah Schneider (“The Waterfront”, “Accused”) is attached to adapt the book to the screen, while Shawn Levy will be executive produced via 21 rap entertainment across television with Netflix.
A Netflix representative declined to comment.
So far, there have been five Chestnut Springs books – “Perfect”, “Comfortless”, “Powerless”, “Reckless”, “Despair”. The book’s description sets out a series that goes against the breathtaking background of a small Canadian town, following the brothers navigating family-owned ranches and embarking on a journey to find turbulent, emotional, and sometimes spicy love.”
This is the second attempt to adapt the Silver novel released in recent months. Bariety exclusively reports that Amazon is developing a series version of the Silver’s Rose Hill novel. Chestnut Springs novels alone sell over 10 million copies worldwide. In addition to the books found in Rosehill and Chestnut Springs books, Silver has published four Gold Rush Ranch novels. The fourth Rosehill book, “The Wild Card,” was released on September 9th.
Silver replaces Parks, Fine & Blower’s literary management and untitled entertainment. Taxation is represented by WME. Schneider is represented by the CAA.
If the Chestnut Springs series moves forward, it will be Netflix’s latest Western Romance project. Currently, streamers are airing the series “Ransom Canyon” (based on Jody Thomas’ novel). Other Netflix shows based on the book series include “Bridgeton,” “Sweet Magnolia,” and “Linecoln Attorney.”
