“Song Sung Blue” is scheduled to premiere the world at AFI Fest on October 26th.

The focus feature film starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson is also a festival closing night film.

“Song Sung Blue” was named as the closing night film at AFI Fest by Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson

Based on a true story, the film follows two clunky musicians played by Jackman and Kate. The film is produced by John Davis (PGA), John Fox (PGA) and Craig Brewer (PGA) and features Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens and Jim Bertie.

In a statement, AFI President and CEO Bob Gazare said, “AFI Fest is proud to celebrate the annual excellence and artistry with the world premiere of “Song Sung Blue.” It’s a timely film about love and magic. The audience chants the modestness of “Sweet Caroline.”

The film will be released nationwide in theaters on December 25th.

As previously announced, “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” is scheduled to open AFI Fest on October 22nd.

The 20th century studio biographies and music drama stars Jeremy Allen White as rock legend Bruce Springsteen. Written and directed by Scott Cooper, the film is adapted from a biographer by Warren Zaneth. It takes place at the early ’80s intersection in Springsteen’s career, creating a personal acoustic song for his 1982 album Nebraska. At the same time, he was recording a demonstration of “Born in America.”

Jeremy is Springsteen’s manager and record producer John Landau, while Odessa Young has a boss’s love interest.

Gazare said, “AFI Fest is the stage and screen where world stories come together in Hollywood.” He said, “Springsteen: Save Me Out of Nowhere.”
It celebrates the global influence of the American icon and the true artistry needed to tell his story. ”

Cooper said, “It’s a real honor to open AFI Fest with “Springsteen: Save Me Out of Nowhere.” AFI has always defended bold and meaningful storytelling. I am grateful to be part of that tradition.

The 39th edition of the Institute’s annual film festival will be held at the TCL China theatres from October 22nd to 26th. AFI Fest features a handpicked selection of red carpet premiere screenings, special screenings, and a hand-picked selection of world films, documentaries and short films. The full festival lineup will be announced on September 30th. Individual tickets will be available on October 6th.

“Not Streaming From Anywhere” will be released in US theatres on October 24th.
