HBO is enacting more name changes as Cabler gave cosmetic transformations to six US linear channels.

HBO2 is called an HBO hit. HBO’s signature is now an HBO drama. HBO Zone will now be known as an HBO movie.

Additionally, Warner Bros Discovery is reviving the name Cinemax. Moremax is currently a Cinemax hit. ActionMax is called Cinemax Action. 5Starmax has been renamed Cinemax Classics.

These updated names will be reflected on TV from today and will also be applied to Live In-App “channels” within HBO MAX.

The brand comes two months after Warner Bros Discovery renamed the streaming service previously known as Max to HBO Max. The streamer was first launched as HBO MAX in 2020 and renamed MAX in 2023, capturing the full width of the merged Warner Bros Discovery catalog. In the summer of 2025, it was renamed HBO Max and Streamer was reflected on the famous “White Lotus” line on social media. (Don’t forget the now-deprecated HBO GO and HBO.)

In advance of WBD in 2025, CEO David Zaslav said: “The strong growth we saw with our global streaming services is built on the quality of our programming. Today we are reviving HBO, the brand that represents the highest quality in the media, further driving growth over the next few years.”
