Amazon MGM Studios India has released a trailer for “Nishaanchi,” an action-packed entertainer of acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap, who promises to provide a full throttle theatrical experience when it strikes the film.
The twin role stars newcomer Aishvaly Thackeray, and the film is Uttar Pradesh in the early 2000s in northern India, centering around brothers Bablue and Double-o (Thackeray), whose opposite worldview drives the story set. Vedika Pinto will be starring together as Rangeeli Rinku with Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Monika Panwar and Kumud Mishra closing out the cast.
“Aaishvary, Vedika, Monika, Zeeshan, Kumud and all the actors in the film — they didn’t just act, they lived and breathed these characters,” the director said. “Their commitment to the story and the authenticity of their performances shines through in the film.”
Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh of Jar Pictures are produced alongside Flip Film, while Kashyap co-written the script with Prasoon Mishra and Ranjan Chandel. The project illustrates the collaboration between the “Gang of Wassey Pool” helmer and Amazon’s Indian production division.
“‘nishaanchi’ is the story I’ve carried with me for years. It’s my most cinematic film with a classic story at the heart of emotions, betrayal, action, everything I love in Hindi films,” Kashyap said. “Working with Amazon MGM Studios India was extremely fruitful because they fully trusted me.”
The two-minute trailer introduces action sequences, romance and family dynamics across multiple storylines.

For lead actor Thackeray, the dual role also contributed to the film’s soundtrack, offering both performance and musical opportunities.
“Playing a completely opposite twin challenged me in every respect, emotional, physical and as an actor,” he said. “At the same time, it was special to contribute to the music of films. For me, acting and music is like Babloo and Dabloo.
Zee Music Co supports soundtracks featuring composers such as Anurag Saikia, Manan Bhardwaj and Dhruv Ghanekar. Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi are offering vocals alongside Thackeray on tracks such as “Filam Dekho”, “Dear Country” and “Birwa”.
Co-star Pinto highlighted his work with acclaimed filmmakers as a career milestone.
“AK Sir was always on my wish list. As I’ve admired him for years, getting the opportunity to be supervised by him was a dream come true,” Pinto said. “Playing Rengeli Link was a beautiful challenge. At first glance, she looks like this sweet, innocent girl. My expression in the film reflects that, but deep, she is fierce, bold and full of spirit.”
This release represents an ongoing theatrical strategy following other local productions at Amazon MGM Studios India.
“We strongly believe in the power of theatrical experience and are committed to bringing unique cinema slates to cinemas over the next few years,” Maddock noted. “‘nishaanchi’ is a very special part of this journey. He is a fascinating entertainer who blends love, conflict, drama and music.
“nishaanchi” will begin on September 19th at an Indian theater.
