Atresmedia picks up Onza Entertainment’s docusary “vulnerability”

Spain’s leading broadcaster Atresmedia has acquired broadcasting rights to “Vulnerability,” a documenary about youth mental health issues created by Onza Entertainment.

The three-segment documentary, created by Onza co-founder and CEO Gonzalo Sagardia, was directed by Gustavo Ron and Sagardia himself and produced by Nicolás Bergareche at Onza.

“Vulnerability” was developed in guidance from Spanish psychiatrist Marian Rojas and collaboration with many national and international experts in the field of mental health.

Rojas was also produced by the executives alongside Jose Maria Ilizari and Santiago de la Rica.

Docuseries World premieres on Tuesday, September 16th and will be screened as part of the official non-fiction section of the South International Series Festival in Spain, which will be held from September 12-17th in Cadiz, Andalusia.

“I’m worried about the increasing deterioration of mental health among young people around the world. Suicide, sexual assault and physical disability are undoubtedly three major issues for our society. And they don’t pay the necessary attention from society or its leaders,” Sagardia said.

“This series is trying to help develop prevention and treatment programs for these young people who have a whole life ahead of them,” he commented.

Partnering with “vulnerability,” Onza and Atresmedia aim to continue last year’s successful path in “Young Attack” (“Adictos a la Pantalla”) with a documentary series depicting their dependence on new technology.

Inviting strong interest in Spain through Atresmedia’s channel Lasexta, “Adictos a la Pantalla”, online on Conglom’s Atresplayer Svod service, has won sales transactions in major international territories processed by Onza Distribution.

DOCU was acquired by Latin American streamers Vix and Flow, as well as by German CNN Portugal, German ZDF, Swedish Films, Al Jazeera, RTVE Slovenia, RTBF Belgique, Mtmedia, CIS, RTP and RAI.

“The deterioration in mental health among young people is not an issue in Spain, but a global issue in developed countries. As such, “Vulnerability” is a very attractive documentary series for a wide range of global audiences,” added Sagardia.
