Amazon, NBCU makes Peacock available via Prime Video Signup

The peacocks from NBC Universal are getting a new perch that can spread their wings.

Comcast’s streaming service will be available through subscriptions to major Amazon video customers. Major Amazon video customers can sign up for ad-free Peacock Premium Plus for $16.99 per month or $169.99 per year. The arrangement makes Peacock available through Amazon’s Fire TV as a result of a series of distribution transactions created between NBCU and Amazon, as well as universal film available for rental or purchase on Prime Video. The agreement also continues to make Prime Video available for access via Comcast’s Xfinity X1 devices.

The agreement gives the NBCU a new ability to distribute peacocks. This has gained some traction to put a new focus on the sport, but still delayed a big rival in terms of scale, giving Amazon more weight as a distributor of access to streaming rivals. Last week, Amazon said it would be offering a subscription to Fox Corp.’s new Fox One streaming service. The company offers over 100 subscription options in the US

“At Amazon, we are constantly working to make our customers’ lives better each day, and these new agreements with Comcast NBCU are great for millions of customers. Millions of customers are looking for the fastest and easiest way to find all their entertainment and sports in one place.” “Adding Peacock to your subscription growth list – renewing long-standing contracts for Fire TV, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Xfinity X1, we look forward to the future of mutual distribution that will benefit our shared customers.”

Over the past few months, the idea of working with rivals and contemporaries to distribute streaming platforms has not been involved in many popularity, except for Comcast’s cable division and Charter Communications. The person says NBCU executives believe Peacock’s recent sports deals have garnered the NFL, NBA and Winter Olympics, which have sparked renewed interest in bundles that include streaming properties. But the Amazon deal added benefits to NBCU’s business, the person says, including Peacock’s Fire TV Placement update and the availability of Prime Video on Comcast’s X1.

The key to the transaction is the fact that Amazon will be able to use ad-free peacock, even though the majority of the services’ customers have acquired an ad-free version. The person said NBCU has seen the opportunity to sell Peacock subscriptions at a higher price to customers who are likely to be more involved, and he wants to learn from the results.

“Millions of Amazon customers can enjoy NBCuniversal’s popular shows, movies, and live events on Peacock via Fire TV or Prime video subscriptions. You can also access Amazon’s premier entertainment on Xfinity X1.

NBCU expects to see new bundle efforts in the coming weeks, and the person considers the Amazon contract as a template that could potentially use it in the future.
