They sometimes record their moments together on social media, but are otherwise private.
Roberts has a son, Rose, with ex-boyfriend Garrett Hedlund. News of their breakup came out in January 2022. Her personal life has been good since then, and their co-parenting relationship has helped.
“Emma is so happy that it was easy for her to co-parent with Garrett in a healthy way,” a source told Entertainment Tonight in October 2022.

John and Roberts began their relationship in earnest in the summer of 2022.
John announced his relationship with Roberts on Instagram on August 25, 2022. He posted a black and white photo of them kissing on a yacht and wrote in the caption, “Sweet sweet.” A source told Entertainment Tonight in October 2022 that the two began dating over the summer.
“She is very happy with her relationship with Cody and they are enjoying their relationship and time together,” the source said. “Their friends and family are happy with their marriage and think they are a great couple.”
Roberts announced that he was single in January 2022. In May 2022, Entertainment Tonight reported that Roberts was “dating and doing her own thing” after breaking up with ex Hedlund.
And John made his debut on Roberts’ Instagram that New Year’s Eve. The actress shared several photos to celebrate the year and started the carousel with a photo of them walking together hand in hand.
“#2022, I love you ❤️ Happy New Year! 🪩🥂,” she captioned the post.
They announced their engagement in July 2024.
Roberts announced the news on July 16, 2024, in an Instagram photo of them together. She flashed her engagement ring and wrote, “I’ll leave this here before my mom tells everyone ❤️.”
They got married in July 2026.
The couple wed on July 25th in Idaho. According to photos, they shared their outdoor ceremony with friends and family. Ms Roberts wore a floor-length gown and veil, while John wore a brown suit. She was later photographed wearing a white minidress with a sheer white overlay for the afterparty.
Since 2022, they have posted each other on Instagram several times.
On Roberts’ birthday in February 2023, John posted a photo of himself looking up at Roberts from behind the camera.
“Happy birthday, Sheesh 🫠🫠,” he wrote in the caption.
The following month, in the run-up to John’s birthday on March 8, Roberts shared a selfie of the two of them in a helicopter.
She referenced his caption, writing, “Happy birthday 🫠❤️.”
John also posted about Roberts’ birthday that year. Roberts posted a black-and-white selfie of herself smiling at the camera and kissing Roberts on the cheek.

Roberts and John attended Coachella together in 2023.
Roberts and John were photographed holding hands at Coachella in April 2023. They were dressed casually, with Roberts wearing a large white button-up over black shorts. She added black and white boots and colored sunglasses. John, on the other hand, wore a tan utility jacket, black pants, and gray Converse sneakers.
In March 2024, the two attended the Lacoste fashion show together.
On March 5th, John and Roberts had a date night in Paris. They went to Lacoste’s Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Women’s Fashion Show and posed for photos together. In one photo, Roberts looked up at her boyfriend with a big smile on her face.
In July 2024, Roberts shared a rare glimpse into their relationship.
On Saturday, July 13, Roberts opened up about her date night with John in an interview with People. They had a movie night and it got emotional.
“My boyfriend and I watched the movie ‘Iron Crow,’ and we were both sobbing,” Roberts said. “It was the worst part of crying and laughing at each other for crying, which made us cry even more.”
In September 2024, he played in the US Open.
A couple was also spotted whispering to each other while standing over him during the women’s final on September 7, 2024 in New York City.
The two were spotted on a date in November 2024.
On November 21, the couple was spotted out with friends at Pace Restaurant near Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles. Roberts wore a colorful patchwork jacket, wide-leg jeans and a white blouse. John was wearing a black jacket, jeans, a baseball cap, and sneakers.
