Harry Styles is in the middle of a grueling 67-date world tour and has been forced to cancel this week’s show due to “tour illness,” sources have confirmed.

Styles, 32, missed a show in Brazil on Tuesday but returned in front of thousands of fans at Mormubis in Sao Paulo on Friday night, although it is not yet clear which of his 200 crew members were sick.

In the coming weeks, the star, who revealed he took up long-distance running as a way to cope with the pressures of fame, will begin an incredible 30-night stay at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Harry Styles performed his single “Aperture” with an energetic dance routine at the BRIT Awards in Manchester, England in February. Last week, he had to cancel a show in Brazil due to a mysterious “tour illness.” Reuters

This comes after a record 12-day residency at London’s Wembley Stadium earlier this summer, where he was spotted running the six-mile journey from his home to the venue.

During one performance in June during a scorching heat wave, he choked on water and fell to the ground before coughing violently and appearing to shake, causing fear among fans.

This week’s issue begs the question: Is this too much for the “Watermelon Sugar” singer?

“It’s definitely grueling,” a friend told Page Six of the star’s “Together, Together” tour, which has the potential to gross $1 billion. “But he loves it and that’s what he signed up for.”

The promoter, who has worked with former One Direction superfans, added: “It’s certainly taxing. It’s physically demanding work. Harry is trying to appease the demands of the fans and be realistic.”

According to Ticketmaster, about 11.5 million fans tried to get tickets to MSG, but there is only room for about 18,000 people to revel a night.

The tour is being led by Live Nation, and the promoter was quick to say, “The artists make all the decisions 100%. Harry knew what he was signing up for…He’s working the arenas and running around.”

In fact, according to online sleuths, the show regularly sees stars run two to three miles on stage each night.

Styles travels frequently with trainer and strength and conditioning coach Brad Gould, and has worked with former Special Forces member Thibo David to prepare him for his “Love on Tour,” which will run from September 2021 to July 2023.

In 2024, Thibault revealed that Stiles, who has completed both the Berlin and Tokyo marathons, can run a mile in an impressive 5 minutes and 13 seconds. This is a standard record for some of the professional athletes he coaches.

Stiles, Tibo said, “Hello!” Over the past year, I’ve been working hard to increase my stamina so I can maintain high energy throughout the show, hoping to avoid injuries on stage.

“His tours are extremely demanding both physically and mentally, with long hours of performance, travel and limited recovery time,” Thibault said.

Styles also prioritizes his mental health while on tour. “In addition to physical fitness, he focuses on mental clarity and stress management so he can give his all and give his best on stage,” Tibo said. “Hydration, sleep and balanced nutrition are equally essential to his preparation.”

Thibault said Harry’s sessions included boxing and working out at legendary gyms, such as the Chicago Bulls’ facility, and he ran the stairs at every venue he visited.

Styles has been promoting his fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time Disco Occasionary, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March and sold 430,000 equivalent albums. This is slightly behind the US opening week of her previous album, Harry’s House, which sold 521,500 album equivalent units in May 2022.

“Harry’s House” spawned “As It Was,” which spent 15 weeks atop the Hot 100 chart and won the 2023 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

Although “KATTDO” hasn’t garnered as much critical acclaim, a friend of the Styles points out that it sold over a million copies worldwide in its first week, adding, “This particular record was made for live music, so it’s important to get out there. This is a dance record and he wants to be close to his fans. This was the record Harry wanted to make.”

After “Love on Tour,” Styles took about two and a half years off, spending most of his time in Italy, where he found love with his now-fiancée, actress Zoe Kravitz, who was seen dancing in the crowd at his latest show.

“The idea of taking a time-out felt insane,” he admitted to Britain’s Sunday Times in February. “I didn’t know if I could do it.

In 2024, Styles rented a house in Italy.

“I remember going to a cafe and sitting down and drinking coffee and thinking, ‘I don’t remember the last time I sat down and had coffee — if I ever sat down and had coffee,'” he continued. “Through a friend, I suddenly learned that eating is more than just fuel.”

Styles also admitted that there were times when fame felt so isolating that he turned down invitations and withdrew from everyday life.

Appearing on the May cover of Runner’s World magazine, he explained that amidst the pressures of stardom, running has become a form of personal therapy and a “conversation with myself.”

“Over the years, I’ve had to say no to every invitation, whether it’s a friend’s birthday, a trip to a great place, or an opening,” he says. “What I often struggle with on tour is not knowing what I’m giving, what I’m adding to the world.”

Ironically, fame only intensified that feeling, creating a kind of one-way street.

“Especially when the reward system and things like the praise that you can receive are so noisy. Obviously I get a lot out of this and I get all the energy. People have given me so much and I deeply appreciate that,” he said. “But what am I contributing? Sometimes I felt very existential about it.”

On August 26th, Styles begins his residency at MSG with support from Jamie XX.

The singer, who was seen with his tour crew, achieved this with 12 sold-out performances, earning him the Guinness World Records title for longest-staying musician for a single performance at Wembley Stadium. Guinness World Records

Officials say they expect Kravitz to be in the best possible condition during his stay at his home in Williamsburg, as he will have a strong base. While hosting “Saturday Night Live” in March, Styles was seen walking and running across the Williamsburg Bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan to the famous NBC studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Page Six reported.

Another music source said being with Kravitz would make him more “settled.”

Little is known about her plans to marry Krativs, but they both definitely want to have children. His longtime manager Jeffrey Azoff (whose 2021 wedding was attended by then-girlfriend Olivia Wilde and Styles) recently became a father, and his sister Gemma welcomed a daughter in 2024.

“Catwoman” star Kravitz recently spoke to British Vogue about her plans for motherhood. “In a way, you have to be realistic. If you want to do something well, you have to focus on it. Knowing myself, I’m not going to have a child and direct a movie at the same time…I just have to decide where I want to put my energy.”

Sources say Styles, who will finish his tour in Australia in December, is happiest on stage.

“He will remain an artist for the rest of his life,” the friend said.
