The cast and crew for the Argentinian spin-off of Joe Begos’ alien horror film Jimmy and the Stiggs have been announced.
Argentina’s Agostina Palazzolo (“Cicron”), Agustina “Papri” Suasquita (Netflix’s “Envias”), and Maia Tarcic (“Letter to an Ex-Lover”) will be the main cast of “Burger Night: Luli, Magda & Roa.”
Meanwhile, Grupo Morbido’s Pablo Guiza Kestinger is attached as a producer, along with executive producers Eli Roth, Begos and Meg Thomson.
Shortly after the film was introduced at the industry-led Morbidgate IP Showcase at the Fantastic Pavilion at Cannes Marche du Film, director Sebastian de Caro, who optioned the spin-off rights to Jimmy and the Stiggs, assembled a talented team to bring his vision to life.
“I’m excited about the cast. They’re extraordinarily talented, true movie buffs, brave and wild women who will surprise everyone. Everyone understands her characters perfectly and everyone fell in love with the original story,” he said.
Shot in 16mm over four years in Begos’ Los Angeles apartment, Jimmy and Stiggs follows estranged friend Jimmy, an unemployed filmmaker who believes he has been abducted by aliens, and his now-sober former collaborator Stiggs, who reunite to confront what they believe is an impending extraterrestrial invasion.
De Caro’s version is more of a re-imagining than a remake, portraying new characters fighting the same extraterrestrial threat in Argentina and taking the world of Begos in a bold new direction.
Renowned genre helmer screenwriter Ramiro García Bogliano (Penumbra) will serve as creative producer, along with co-writer Matias Orta. Cinematographer Mariano Suarez is best known for his work on the Argentinian horror hits When the Evil Lurks and Terrified. Production designers Catalina Oliva (The Singular Crime) and Federico Ricciardoni (Rooms for Tourists) are local producers, working closely with Guiza and De Caro to support the production in Argentina.
“This project was born out of two conversations and cocktails: one with Eli (Roth) over a year ago, and one with Seba (Caro) a few months ago. Both were conversations between two movie-loving friends. Then we announced the IP at the Morbidgate Showcase, made cocktails in Cannes, and today we’re announcing the cast. “Films are made as a team, but for me genre films go beyond that and are made as a family. And with this project, that couldn’t be more true,” she says of WomenInFan, a new initiative supporting Latin American women filmmakers in the genre field. said Guiza, who recently attended a media market in Costa Rica to launch LatAm.
Palazzolo, known as La Ardija to her 9.4 million TikTok followers and who has also built a strong presence in theater and radio, said she was “proud to be part of a national project led by such talented women.”
“Burger Night” is Suasquita’s first foray into genre film. “I feel that genre cinema is the most creative and important genre of our time. As an actress, this is a challenging project full of adrenaline and for the first time I get to work in another language, a language that belongs to this genre where boundaries change and creativity expands.”
“Everyone grew up watching movies about aliens landing in America. But what happens when they land in Argentina? That, for me, is what makes this project the most exciting. We’re not just participating in a genre film, we’re participating in a creative challenge that’s very unusual in Argentine cinema,” said Tarcic, who brought a variety of experience to the project as an actress, director, screenwriter, poet and author.
Jimmy and the Stiggs premiered at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles in 2024, before being released in U.S. theaters in August 2025 through Roth’s newly launched genre banner Horror Section.
