The Sun reports that Sarah Ferguson is staying in ex Paddy McNally’s Swiss chalet after being evicted from Royal Lodge.
The car racing manager evacuated Mr Ferguson to his £15 million ($19.9 million) home in Verbier before he died at the age of 88 earlier this week.
“Paddy has always cared for Sarah and there have been times over the past 40 years when she has required a lot of attention,” a source told The Sun.
“He never abandoned her throughout his life, and even in his final days he gave her a safe haven in his home in Verbier.”
Page Six has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment, but had not received any comment at the time of publication.
McNally, who has a reported net worth of about $800 million, owns an eight-bedroom chalet in Verbier called “Les Gai Lutens,” where he hosted large parties in the 1980s.
Hello! The magazine broke the news on Tuesday that McNally had passed away after a long illness. His death came two months after his son Sean died suddenly in Scotland.
Mr Ferguson, 66, and Mr McNally dated for three years from 1982 to 1985, just before marrying former Prince Andrew.
Despite divorcing in 1996, the former Duke and Duchess of York lived together at Royal Lodge until Andrew was evicted by his brother King Charles, who arrested him in February.
After the eviction, Mr. Ferguson became effectively homeless and was camping with friends, including Priscilla Presley, Page Six reported.
We also heard that Ferguson was struggling to find a place to stay in New York after Andrew’s involvement with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was exposed in February.
On Thursday, a friend told People that Ferguson is “keeping a low profile” and is “staying in contact with his daughters and waiting for news of Eugenie’s baby.”
Ferguson and Andrew have daughters Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 36, and Eugenie is pregnant with her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank.
People magazine also reported that Mr Ferguson is still abroad and has not returned to the UK amid an investigation into the relationship between Andrew and Epstein.
On his 66th birthday, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in office for allegedly forwarding confidential trade documents to Epstein.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to life in prison.
Since his arrest, Andrew has been living on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England.
Ferguson, who has always defended and supported her ex-husband, appeared in some of Epstein’s emails released by the Justice Department in February.
Emails exchanged between 2009 and 2011 show a close relationship between Mr. Ferguson and the late convicted sex offender, in which Mr. Ferguson repeatedly said that they should get married.
Mr. Ferguson also called Mr. Epstein “the brother I’ve always wanted.”
