This will be Casey Affleck’s third feature film since 2019’s The Light of My Life.
Company, which concluded in Whistler, Canada, earlier this year, stars Nick Nolte (Cape Fear, Die My Love), Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby) and Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight). A gothic mystery starring Scoot McNairy (The Complete Unknown, Speak No Evil) and Emily Alyn Lind (We). We’re Liars”, “Speed the Plow”) and Cary Cowan (“Sunrise in Heaven”).
Written and directed by Affleck, who won an Oscar for Best Actor for Manchester by the Sea, Company is a co-production between Image Nation Studios, Rabbit Black, Spooky Pictures, Artist Equity, Arcana Studios and Artemis Pictures. AGC and Spooky Pictures will handle international sales, with Gersh, Cinetic and Range Select handling North America.
Set on a winter night in 1975, the film tells the story of an elderly hermit named Tom, who comes uninvited to a holiday gathering and rescues an actress stranded during a Colorado snowstorm more than 20 years ago. As a series of gruesome murders spreads fear across the frontier, the actress tells an old story of a farming couple who take in a troubled young drifter to spend the night. According to the synopsis, “As the stories intertwine across generations, ‘Company’ becomes a meditation on grief, revenge, forgiveness, and the quiet acts of mercy that can heal even the deepest wounds.”
Stephen Schneider (The Long Walk, Strange Darlings, Late Night with the Devil) and Roy Lee (Weapons, The Barbarian, It) are producing for Spooky Pictures, along with Cowan, Dan Lawler, Affleck, Sean Patrick O’Reilly, K. Asher Levin, Enzo Marc and Anthony Katagas. Executive producers include Ben Ross (The Watcher, Late Night with the Devil) of Image Nation Studios.
