An upcoming Family Guy spinoff focused on Stewie Griffin is expanding its voice cast.
Variety has confirmed that in addition to Seth MacFarlane, who plays Stewie, “Family Guy” mainstays Mike Henry, Kenan Thompson, Vanessa Bayer, Melissa O’Neal, Aaron Lee and Jessica Rowe will also lend their voices to the show.
“Stewie” was originally announced in March as a two-season order for Fox, which is also airing “Family Guy” as the show enters its 25th season.
The official synopsis for “Stewie” reads, “After being adopted from his old kindergarten, Stewie is enrolled in a new kindergarten that isn’t necessarily the best. There are a few kids he doesn’t know, a geriatric turtle who has half-baked theories about everything, and a teacher who probably isn’t allowed near the kids. Stewie is miserable, the other kids are miserable, and even the turtles are miserable…” Stewie begins deploying a trusty device that he can carry with him anywhere in space and time, turning his boring days at school into crazy, unforgettable adventures. ”
Thompson provides the voice of Royal, described as “one of Stewie’s new friends who takes a ‘no-no’ attitude to the dangers of Stewie’s adventures.” Bayer will play Morgan, Stewie’s teacher, but “should spend less time partying and maybe more time watching the kids.”
Henry provides the voice of BJ, described as “Stewie’s gossipy new classmate and the son of Bruce from Family Guy.” Lowe is the voice of Caroline, “an aspiring influencer and deadly nemesis in Stewie’s classroom.” O’Neill describes Wanda as “Stewy’s intellectual soulmate and object of affection.” Lee provides the voice of Skunk, a “100-year-old turtle with half-baked theories about literally everything.”
MacFarlane will also voice Bean, who is described as “Stewie’s quiet classmate who was repeatedly knocked over his head.”
“Stewie” was created by MacFarlane and Kirker Butler, who serve as executive producers along with Kara Vallow. Butler will serve as showrunner. This series is produced by 20th Television Animation.
