AMC Global Media has acquired the U.S. rights to Catherine Zeta-Jones’ new revenge thriller series Kill Jackie.
Kill Jackie, starring and executive produced by Zeta-Jones and co-produced by Steel Springs Pictures and Fremantle, is scheduled to premiere on AMC+ in the US this fall.
Based on Nick Harkaway’s best-selling novel The Price You Pay (which he wrote under the pen name Aidan Truhen), the series follows Jackie Price (Zeta-Jones), who has “spent the past 20 years living a quiet, luxurious life selling art anonymously after fleeing her criminal past,” according to the official synopsis. “The world she carefully built is shattered when she learns that the Seven Demons, a group of ruthless assassins, have been hired to kill her. Jackie must unleash her old instincts and carry out a dangerous plan to defeat the demons.”
In addition to Zeta-Jones, Kill Jackie also stars Daniel Ings, Sisse Babette Knudsen, Bill Patterson, Ron Perlman, Oscar Hattie Hook, Darcey Shaw, Raf Lo, Enzo Cilenti, Kristin Adams, Julian Lind-Tutt, Karlis Arnolds Avotz, Set Sjöstrand, Tadashi Ito, and Sebastian Armesto. Julian Barratt, Gavin Spokes, Jonathan Cake, Bamshad Abedi Amin.
“‘Kill Jackie’ is a standout addition to AMC+’s curated selection of premium scripted content and is a great example of the bold, character-driven storytelling that is our hallmark,” Dan McDermott, chief content officer of AMC Global Media and president of AMC Studios, said in a statement. “Catherine Zeta-Jones dominates the screen with her captivating lead performance, and we’re thrilled to work with her and the entire production team to bring this bold, darkly comedic thriller to U.S. audiences.”
Peter Lawson, founder of Steel Springs Pictures, added, “We are excited to partner with AMC Global Media to bring ‘Kill Jackie’ to audiences in the United States. AMC has an exceptional reputation for championing bold, premium storytelling, making it the ideal home for this series. We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to experience ‘Kill Jackie’ on AMC+.”
Kill Jackie was co-produced by Conor Keene (The North Sea Connection), Tom Butterworth (Gangs of London), Peter Lawson (John Wick), and Damon Thomas (Killing Eve). In addition to Zeta-Jones, Steel Springs Pictures’ Lawson and Jose Agustín Valdez, Butterworth and Thomas will executive produce alongside Rebecca Dundon, Dante Di Loreto and Jeffrey Levine.
Lawson and Lorenzo DeMaio of DeMaio Entertainment negotiated the deal and jointly managed U.S. sales. Fremantle will be responsible for sales in all other regions.
