July 3rd is the perfect day to get married!
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, who got married on that day five years ago, certainly seem to think so, as Stefani posted the date of their special anniversary on Instagram on Monday, leaving fans wondering if Stefani and Shelton were actually celebrating another couple’s wedding on July 3rd.
Stefani described the anniversary footage simply as a “forever date night” with her girlfriend, but fans were quick to point out the fact that the two were in New York City. Two other A-list celebrities, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, were hosting a huge A-list wedding there.
Stefani, 56, and Shelton, 50, dressed up for the occasion, with Stefani wearing a form-fitting formal pink dress by Yara Shoemaker and Shelton donning a classic tuxedo. What appeared to be the New York skyline could be seen outside the window, and a garment bag in the closet had a tag that read “Blake NYC.”
The “Hollaback Girl” singer teased that “Blake won’t let me take any pictures of him,” but she apparently took plenty of shots of him both during his glamor days and afterwards, and then drove back later in the evening.
Fans quickly noticed that the couple was in New York for their big day. One person said, “Looks like you all went to a certain wedding😉 💍,” while another said, “Did you go to a wedding on your wedding anniversary????🤔.”
Shelton and Stefani, who met as coaches on the NBC singing competition “The Voice” and began dating in 2015, married Swift and Kelce on the same day in 2021, but their weddings were markedly different.
While the former chose to wed at a ranch in Shelton, Oklahoma, Swift and Kelsey chose to have a grand, star-studded wedding at Madison Square Garden.
On their actual wedding anniversary, Stefani decided to share a wedding photo from their special day on the merry-go-round, captioning it, “5 years of eternal marriage.”
Shelton followed suit, posting a collection of photos from his own wedding and writing, “5 years and every day is better than the last…I love you @GwenStefaniShelton!!!!” Happy birthday my sweet girl!!!”
