Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey’s lavish wedding apparently tricked guests in more ways than one, as one guest revealed that he initially believed Adam Sandler’s hosting appearance was “a joke.”
“Adam Sandler hosted it,” American Century Investments CEO Jonathan Thomas, who “knows” Kelsey well, told hosts Sean Russo and Downtown’s Josh Brown on Thursday’s episode of the “Compound and Friends” podcast.
“When he came down, everyone laughed and at first thought it was a joke.”
“He actually talked for 20, 30 minutes and sang a few things, oscillating between being funny and being very sincere. There are two things that I remember clearly. One was the typical vows that the host would say, ‘For rich or for poor,’ and he was like, ‘You don’t have to worry about that,'” Thomas recalled, citing Swift’s reported $2 billion net worth and Kelce’s wealth.
The businessman told the host that the “SNL” alum left a message for the couple, telling them to “kiss every day, in the morning, after dinner, at night, just kiss often.”
Thomas went on to recall how the couple’s personally written vows moved the assembled guests to tears.
“Travis said his vows first,” Thomas said. “I think he talked for maybe 30 minutes. I don’t want to invade his privacy, but I was crying. I was trying to hold it in. He made himself incredibly vulnerable. And I looked around and saw all the 300-pound guys in the football industry crying as well. So I felt really comfortable letting it go.”
“And Taylor went and she wrote her own vows as well. She spoke for probably 30 minutes and it was poetic. Really well done,” he continued.
Other guests in attendance included Kyle and Kristin Juszczyk, who couldn’t help but tear up in the audience.
“There were definitely tears,” Kyle exclusively told Page Six on Thursday night. “Their vows were so good that it was hard not to keep them.”
“I cry at every wedding,” Kristin added. “Well, I don’t think there’s ever been a wedding where I didn’t cry.”
The couple reflected on their “legendary” wedding, calling it “the best night ever.”
“Yeah, it’s really, really legendary,” said the 35-year-old San Francisco 49ers player.
The pair added that it felt “wild” to be on the dance floor, rubbing shoulders with a host of famous guests including Lena Dunham, Mariska Hargitay, Hugh Grant, Selena Gomez, Bradley Cooper, Sabrina Carpenter, Adam Sandler, Emma Stone and Tom Brady, and Kristin said she had to “journ” the night so she wouldn’t forget any details.
