Netflix has announced its next big bet in gaming: couch co-op party game Netflix Minigolf.
“Netflix Mini Golf,” which launches on July 28, is described as a combination of mini golf and pinball, with the addition of the Demogorgon from “Stranger Things” and Yong Hee from “The Squid Game.”
Developed by Netflix-owned game studio Next Games, the game includes more than 60 levels set in the worlds of three of the streamer’s top IPs: “Stranger Things,” “Squid Game” and “Bridgerton.”
As players putt through rounds of mini-golf featuring Netflix characters, they can collect “pranks” throughout each hole and use them on their opponents’ turns. And in this version of mini golf, the person with the lowest score doesn’t always win.
Netflix Minigolf is available to all Netflix subscribers at no additional charge. The game can be accessed on compatible TVs via the Netflix platform. Players use their phones as controllers that connect to the game through a QR code, and up to four players can compete locally on the same TV.
The three IPs chosen to be included in “Netflix Minigolf” are among the streamer’s most popular series of all time. Season 5 of Stranger Things had the biggest opening week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 8.46 billion hours watched. “The Squid Game” Season 3 holds the Netflix record for most views for a show in its first three days, with 60.1 million views across its six episodes. “Bridgerton” season 4 has racked up 28 million views after the release of the second batch of episodes.
‘Netflix Minigolf’ is the latest release from Netflix’s gaming division this summer. Netflix’s Next Games released FIFA World Cup – Launch Edition, a soccer simulation game that kicks off the 2026 World Cup on Netflix, in June. And earlier this month, Netflix’s Night School Studios debuted the horror game Unhinged in collaboration with David Fincher and Zack Cregger.
