Production on the pilot begins this month in Los Angeles. Fulwell Entertainment will serve as executive producer, with Ben Winston, Ashley Edens, Emma Conway and Dave Piendak serving as executive producers.
If it is decided to become a series, the reboot version aims to be a showcase for young performers. As with past iterations, music plays a big role in variety shows.
The “Mickey Mouse Club” was founded by Walt Disney himself and originally began as a traveling live theater show. It first aired on ABC in 1955 and ran for a short time before becoming a syndicated show in the 1970s. The most popular revival, known as “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club,” took place in 1989 and aired on Disney Channel until 1996. A short-lived social media version dubbed “Club Mickey Mouse” was tested from 2017 to 2018.
This is the latest pilot order from Disney+, which recently announced a series adaptation of the 2006 mermaid film Aquamarine and a pilot for a live-action adaptation of the book series The Last Kids on Earth.
