Nick Reiner is reportedly unidentified seven months after he was arrested for the murders of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michelle Reiner.
“Nick is not like Nick anymore. He is deteriorating rapidly. No one will recognize him,” a source close to the family told the Daily Mail.
“He’s almost bald because he has to cut his hair short to keep the bugs out. And he’s very thin because he’s on strong medication. His eyes are very sunken.”
Officials say Nick has been kept in solitary confinement and his mental health has deteriorated.
“Nick hasn’t been well for years, but parts of his personality were recognizable before he went to prison. That’s not the case now,” the source claimed.
“He’s like a babbling child, completely insane. It’s too bad his lawyer is having a hard time talking to him.”
The 32-year-old’s siblings Jake Reiner, 35, and Romy Reiner, 28, are said to be worried that he will never regain his senses and that the constant stress could weaken his heart and cause him to die.
Representatives for the Reiner family did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Nick has been incarcerated at the Los Angeles Twin Towers Correctional Facility since the death of his parents in December 2025. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
Nick was diagnosed with schizophrenia and had a history of drug addiction at the time of the Dec. 14 murder. It is also alleged that while high on methamphetamines, he once “destroyed” his parents’ home in a well-known drug-induced rage.
The “Being Charlie” writer got into a heated argument with his parents at Conan O’Brien’s house the day before the murder. A source previously told the Post that Nick was “panicking” and Rob told guests he was “scared” of his son’s “deteriorating” mental state.
Rob and Michelle were found stabbed to death by their daughter Romy in their home in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood. He was 79 years old and she was 70.
After pleading not guilty in February, Nick is requesting access to a $1.5 million trust fund to cover his legal fees while he awaits trial.
A former inmate who has stayed in the Twin Towers previously spoke to the Daily Mail about conditions at the prison, saying inmates are “screaming all day and night, they won’t shut up. There’s no mute button.”
“The noise really hits home and shakes the nervous system because it’s so bizarre, with howls and profanity and disgusting sex talk,” the source said.
Former prisoners said prisons are bitterly cold during the winter, with little or no sunlight.
