Davey Chase had a personal fortune of $400,000, but was living on the streets of downtown Los Angeles at the time of his death.
The late actress, who starred in 2002’s The Ring and provided the voice of Lilo in Disney’s 2002 hit Lilo & Stitch, died last month at just 35 years old. Her mother, Kathy Chase, said in court documents obtained by Page Six on Monday that the late actress left behind a personal estate of $400,000.
Kathy is asking the court to appoint her as administrator of Davie’s estate.
According to the documents, Cathy believes Davey’s father, John Schwarrier, is “residing in the Philippines at an unknown address” but also “maintains property” in Las Vegas.
A Los Angeles County coroner’s report obtained by Page Six last month listed Davie’s primary cause of death as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
Chronic polysubstance use, which involves using multiple drugs over a short period of time, is also on the list, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
The former child star had no children and was never married. However, her alleged boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help her “find solace and peace” in her final days before her death.
“My girlfriend Davey Chase has always been the light of my life. She is known to many as a talented child actor who starred in ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ ‘Spirited Away,’ ‘Donnie Darko,’ and more. But behind the scenes, she has faced more than her share of hardship,” Hernandez said in an online campaign.
“Davie, who had a difficult childhood and experienced a painful rift with her family, was bullied in downtown Los Angeles and struggled to find safety and happiness. When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together we found a moment of happiness and hope.”
However, Davey’s former manager John Ryan urged fans not to donate after Hernandez’s GoFundMe went viral.
“Apparently, a man claiming to be her ‘boyfriend’, whom none of our friends or her family have ever heard of, has set up a GoFundMe ‘on behalf of her and her family’ and has set her up as the organizer,” Ryan told the Post.
“We can confirm that Mr Davey has opened a trust account with SAG to cover all costs,” he added.
Ryan, who managed the late actress for more than a decade, also claimed there were “millions” of unclaimed balance checks at the time of her death.
Disturbing footage obtained exclusively by The Post last month shows Davey extremely thin and barely conscious on the floor of a tent or trailer on Los Angeles’ infamous Skid Row.
Ryan told the outlet that in 2025, with the help of his sister-in-law Gaia Brown and a private investigator, he tracked her down and called for help, but after he was able to speak to Davey on the phone, she “disappeared” again.
“We were so close to finding her,” he told the Post. “Davey was the kindest, brightest light in Hollywood. It’s hard to believe this is real. Her legacy and work will live on forever.”
