Kristin Cavallari’s kids don’t sit with her in first class.
The reality star explained on Tuesday’s episode of her podcast Aspire with Emma Grede why having her son Camden, 13, son Jackson, 12, and daughter Saylor, 10, coached is “very important” to her.
“It’s good for them,” the “Hills” alum noted of the unconventional air arrangements.
“I think little things like that as parents end up making a big difference in the long run,” Cavallari, 39, continued.
She said the trio did not “get everything they wanted” as they were “overly aware” that their children were “growing up in very fortunate circumstances”.
The author of Uncommon James said, “If you want something, you have to work for it. I want them to know, ‘This is not your money. This is my money.'”
Cavallari, who co-parents with ex-husband Jay Cutler, confessed that now that her children are older, it’s not “difficult” to sit apart from them and she doesn’t have to worry about fighting.
“It’s like, ‘Goodbye, go home and have fun,'” she said jokingly, adding that she “set[another]good example” of keeping kids down to earth.
“Last summer, both of my sons started their own small businesses,” the “Laguna Beach” alum said. “One of my sons was washing people’s windows, and the other was washing people’s trash cans.”
She reinforced the idea that “if they want something, they have to work for it and make it happen.”
Cavallari’s revelation comes four months after Jessica Simpson made headlines for sitting in first class on a trip to Hawaii while her estranged husband Eric Johnson and his siblings were seated in economy class.
Simpson’s ex-husband, Nick Lachey, was also on the flight and confirmed the seating arrangement on “What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” in May.
“Her children and her — I don’t really know what their status is — I think her husband was on the plane… in another class of service,” the “Newlyweds” alum said at the time.
Simpson, 45, defended herself to a TMZ reporter later that month, blaming her mother for the controversial seat.
Tina Ann Drew “bought me that ticket,” the singer claimed, adding that going on vacation was a “reward” for the 66-year-old.
