Next up for Roots drummer Questlove is a new talk show aptly titled “The Next Move.”
Developed in collaboration with North Road Company and Two One Five Entertainment, “The Next Move” is a talk show based on Questlove’s personal celebrity game nights. In this series, Questlove and three guests chat about their lives and careers while playing games ranging from Uno to Jenga to Questlove’s original creations. The song debuts on Questlove’s new channel titled Do You Want More, produced through his Two One Five banner. This serves as the first salvo of future digital content releases from Questlove and Black Thought’s ever-expanding production company.
“Of all my social experiments, game night is my favorite of my career,” Questlove said. “The Next Move lets you gather your friends to play, talk, and see what happens. You learn a lot about a person as you play the game, and we invite you to join in the conversation.”
Questlove started hosting game nights in her apartment in the 2010s, but they expanded after the pandemic. Past game nights have included stars like Taylor Swift, Jason Sudeikis, Lupita Nyong’o, Megan Thee Stallion, Quinta Brunson, and J.J. Abrams. The guest lineup for the first season of “The Next Move,” which was developed in collaboration with Amazon, has not yet been announced.
Two One Five Entertainment is a production company founded by Questlove and Roots member Black Thought that develops and produces content rooted in culture and storytelling. “The Next Move” is the company’s latest foray into unscripted media. The show introduces Two One Five’s new channel “Do You Want More” and sets the stage for future digital content from the production company.
The series is co-produced by Two One Five, a division of Words + Pictures, and Connor Schell’s Full Day.
Questlove and his band, The Roots, are gaining attention following their high-profile performance at the Obama Presidential Center Library, which opened last month, and their historic collaboration with Jay-Z at the annual Roots Picnic.
In June, Questlove released a new documentary, Earth, Wind and Fire (To Be Celestial vs. That’s the Weight of the World), and released a new documentary about Sly Lives! The long-awaited follow-up to “The Burden of Talent” (2025), “Ladies & Gentlemen…50 Years of SNL Music” (2025), and “Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Was Not Televised)” has been released.
