Colin Gosselin has claimed that his estranged mother Kate Gosselin “praised” her not to hit him when he was a toddler.
The 22-year-old criticized the matriarch on his Instagram Story on Tuesday ahead of the publication of his long-awaited memoir, In the Shadow of Eight.
“Never forget the fact that my mother wrote in her diary, ‘I had to pray to God to stop hitting me’ (this was when I was two years old, by the way),” he claimed.
“That’s why it’s so important that I use my voice to bring these things to light,” Colin added, referring to the secrets he is preparing to reveal in his book, which will be released on October 13th.
Kate’s representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six for comment.
Earlier this month, Mr Colin announced that he would be publishing a memoir, warning that it was not “the story that people think they know”.
“Writing this book forced me to revisit some of the most difficult moments in my life, but it also gave me something I had been searching for for a long time: my own voice,” he wrote in a statement. “This is the story I’ve lived.”
Colin also sent a pointed message to Kate when she reshared a social media article from the Post about how Kate felt about the book’s release.
The article’s headline read: “Kate Gosselin ‘soaring’ ahead of estranged son Colin’s bombshell memoir: ‘She knows it’s going to shock fans’.
The post also featured a photo of Kate, but Colin blurred it out with the caption: “What is done in the dark always comes to light.”
A source told the Daily Mail that Kate and Colin haven’t spoken since she was institutionalized as a child. “She never expected anything like this to go public. Now she’s stuck in a vicious cycle because she knows it’s going to hurt her fans.”
The TLC alum allegedly told People that her son’s claims, including how she allegedly tied him up in the basement, were “zero facts” and baseless. She had previously denied the allegations against her.
She told People magazine, “[He]has undergone multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years. … Colin’s distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues he has always struggled with.”
Additionally, Kate claimed via TikTok on Monday that she cannot sue Colin for defamation because he is a “public figure” and “unfortunately the rules are different.”
“Otherwise, I definitely would!” she wrote in the comments of one video. “Years ago, when other people were putting out crazy things, I went to a big-time lawyer in Los Angeles (you’ve probably heard of him) and he said,
Kate and ex-husband Jon Gosselin shot to fame on the TLC show “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” along with their sextuplets (Colin, Hannah Arden, Joel, Alexis, and Leah) and twins Madeline and Cara.
The ex-lovers were married from 1999 to 2009, and John, 49, was granted sole custody of Colin in 2018.
