Icons recognize icons.
Janet Jackson paid a stylish tribute to two late music legends, Tupac Shakur and her brother Michael, on the red carpet at the 2026 BET Awards on Sunday.
The “All For You” songstress, 60, paid homage to her co-star from the iconic 1993 film “Poetic Justice” by donning a black-and-white layered look with a vintage 2Pac T-shirt.
And in addition to a stack of silver bracelets and an eyelet belt, Ms. Jackson accessorized with an elegant veiled fedora that looked like it was pulled from her brother’s closet.
Michael famously loved hats, especially fedoras, which have become synonymous with his personal style and stage presence.
Janet attended the BET Awards and presented Teyana Taylor with the Icon of the Year award.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Michael’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, who played the King of Pop in this year’s biopic Michael, and Nia Long, who played patriarch Katherine Jackson in Antoine Fuqua’s film.
In April, several members of the Jackson family attended the film’s premiere, but Janet was absent from the event, as was Michael’s other sister LaToya and daughter Paris.
After a private, private screening of the biopic, Page Six reported that Janet “had a negative opinion of almost every scene,” and a source said: “Janet decided against the opposition of the room that the film didn’t meet her approval.”
And after “Michael” cast member Colman Domingo (who plays Joe Jackson) told People magazine that Paris and her brother Prince Jackson are “hugely supportive of our film,” the former took to Instagram to slam Paris.
“Please don’t say I ‘helped’ on the set of a movie that I had no involvement in at all (lol), that’s so weird,” Paris wrote.
Clearly, Janet is choosing to honor her late brother’s legacy with her own judgment.
