It’s been a pretty brutal summer for Taylor Swift.
Travis Kelce, 36, first tracked down the artist, also 36, and gave her his phone number in July 2023 when he showed up at the Elas tour stop in Kansas City, Missouri.
The football player wrote his number on a friendship bracelet, but according to him, Swift “didn’t want to see him.”
“She doesn’t talk before or after the show because she has to preserve her voice to sing 44 songs,” Kelce explained on the New Heights podcast at the time. “I took it personal.”
Two months later, the Messenger reported that the two were actually “quietly spending time together.”
However, multiple sources claim that Kelce had a “no-holds-barred” mentality during the first few months, according to the Daily Mail.
“He wasn’t looking for anything serious, that’s for sure,” one source claimed. “He was dating other people at the same time before he went public.”
“He was definitely still dating[at first],” another source told the publication.
A source said Kelce said the friendship bracelet move was something of a “joke” and “didn’t think it would go anywhere.”
Three others told the Daily Mail that the tight end did not immediately respond to messages from the musician during the early days of their relationship.
“[He’s not]avoiding her, but unless he’s looking for something serious, he can’t force anything on her,” the source said. “He just didn’t pursue her hard. He’s a football player!”

“Travis wasn’t looking for something serious. When he enters Taylor’s world, it gets serious right away,” agreed another user.
Sources claimed that Kelce and Swift will become “exclusive” in September 2023.
Page Six has reached out to a representative for the couple for comment.
The two got engaged in August 2025 after dating for two years.
Swift and Kelsea are scheduled to walk down the aisle over the July 4th weekend.
The Post confirmed Friday that a rehearsal dinner will be held at Madison Square Garden on July 2nd.
Officials said 100 close family members and friends will be in attendance.
And on July 3, Swift and Kelce are expected to welcome 1,000 to 2,000 people to the venue.
Sources told Page Six that the couple turned to celebrity wedding planner Marc Seed to coordinate the event.
A source revealed that Seed, Swift and Kelsey have been working together “for months.”
It was originally reported that Kelsey and Swift’s wedding would take place on June 13th at the luxury Ocean House in Watch Hill, where Swift owns a mansion.
The Grammy winner was reportedly so adamant about getting married that day that he cut a large check to another bride-to-be who had already booked the venue.
A few months later, it was revealed that Swift and Travis had decided to have their wedding at a different location to invite more guests.
Big stars said to be in attendance include Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Zoe Kravitz, Suki Waterhouse, Karlie Kloss, the Haim sisters and Gigi Hadid.
Swift is said to have invited guests over the phone and signed strict confidentiality agreements with those who accepted.
Last week, Swift and Kelsea were spotted out and about with friends as their wedding day approached.
On June 17, Kelce was photographed entering the Bird Streets Club in Los Angeles with his brother Jason Kelce, comedian Dorsky, and former Kansas City Chiefs teammate Ross Travis.
A woman resembling Swift was seen on the balcony of Swift’s Rhode Island mansion, dressed in white and surrounded by three girlfriends dressed in black.
