Brad Pitt has scored another victory in his legal battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie over Chateau Miraval.
On June 17, the California Superior Court granted a motion by Pitt’s attorneys that included compelling depositions from members of the Story Group, a global wine producer and distributor, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
Pitt’s lawyers had argued that Jolie’s investors had direct knowledge of Jolie’s 2021 sale of a French winery he co-owned with his ex-wife to Tenuto del Monde, the wine arm of the Stoli Group.
In June 2025, the actor filed a document with the court seeking to dismiss Alexey Olynyk from the Story Group.
Olynyk allegedly refused to submit relevant documents or appear for a deposition, claiming that he could not be forced to do so as a Swiss resident.
A source exclusively told Page Six that “those involved in the story must now deal with the music and be transparent about their dealings.”
However, another source claims, “Angie did not sell to Stoli for any reason other than expecting Stoli to be a good global distribution partner who could help grow the business for the benefit of Brad’s children, who stood to inherit Brad’s fortune.”
“The truth is that Pitt’s ego and obsession with control got in the way. Brad refused to work with Story simply because Angie chose Story over him.”
Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, argued: “This decision has no effect on the merits of the case and certainly has no effect on Ms. Jolie’s case. At this point, Ms. Jolie is simply looking forward to defeating this case in court next year so her family can finally focus their energies on healing and moving forward.”
People first reported the news.
The former couple’s dispute over the $500 million property they bought in 2008 has been ongoing since Jolie sold her stake in half of the vineyard in 2021.
The “Fight Club” star filed suit the following year, alleging that his ex-spouse made the sale despite a prior agreement that neither of them would sell without the other’s consent.
But Jolie denied that agreement and claimed in a countersuit that her ex-girlfriend was “waging a war of revenge” against her.
The legal battle has been raging for years, with the F1 star scoring a major victory last month, Page Six exclusively reported.
A Michigan judge has ruled that the Storey Group’s attorneys improperly blocked testimony during key depositions related to the case.
The court found that Stoli’s former general counsel Todd Kriva was improperly instructed not to answer 33 questions in a December deposition regarding Joly’s 2021 stake sale in his French winery business.
However, a source exclusively told Page Six that “this ruling is not a big deal and has no impact on the case.”
The ruling also ordered Kliba to attend another deposition, answer previously blocked questions, and provide related follow-up, over Story’s objections.
Jolie, in particular, scored her own legitimate victory last month.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has rejected Pitt’s efforts to force the “Maleficent” actress to hand over a range of private emails related to the winery dispute, ruling that Pitt had not met its burden of overcoming attorney-client privilege claims.
The motion was “denied without prejudice,” meaning Pitt could raise the issue again later.
At the time, a source exclusively told Page Six, “It’s remarkable that Jolie has privileged and withheld so many documents. These emails are just part of the evidence in this case.”
The Hollywood exes have continued to clash in court since Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.
Throughout the legal battle, the “Maria” star accused her ex-lover of trying to silence her and of using the lawsuit to cover up personal wrongdoings he committed throughout their marriage.
Pitt finalized his long-awaited divorce from Jolie in December 2024, ending a legal process that lasted more than eight years.
The former couple have six children and are reportedly estranged from Pitt: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins, Knox and Vivian.
