Kylie Jenner teamed up with Mehta for her latest fashion endeavor.
Stepping into the world of high-tech style, the makeup mogul designed three new styles of meta smart glasses, which she unveiled on Tuesday morning.
“Our new @metaglasses series is available today, featuring 3 shapes, 26 style combinations, and our cutting-edge meta AI,” Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Instagram, adding, “We’ve also added 3 custom styles designed by @kyliejenner.”
“This is the first glasses product we designed from scratch,” Zuckerberg said in the video.
He continued, “Kylie herself adds a lot of touches to them. She’s such a fashion icon, so it was really fun to have the opportunity to work with her on this.”
The brand’s previous glasses were designed in partnership with Ray-Ban, utilizing the iconic Wayfarer style.
Jenner designed the single oval silhouette, which is currently available in three colorways for $399.
According to the brand’s press release, it boasts open-ear audio, hands-free calling and messaging, video and photo recording, and more.
Plus, as Meta explains, Jenner lent her voice to the sunglasses. “Put on your glasses first thing in the morning and start your day with Kylie’s Rise and Shine.”
Zuckerberg recognizes that wearable technology not only has to work, it also has to look good, as he says in the video. “If you’re going to wear these, they have to be good glasses first. It’s almost fashion first and technology second.”
In an interview with Elle, Jenner said, “Glasses have always been my favorite. Honestly, they’re the first thing I notice when I look at someone,” adding that what excited her about the partnership was not just lending her face to the campaign, but being able to “be a part of everything: the shape, the color, the packaging, the little chime that goes off when you put it on.”
