Jimmy Kimmel wished President Donald Trump a happy birthday on Instagram on Sunday, posting a birthday card similar to the note Trump wrote to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein when he turned 50.
“Happy 80, Donald!” the card reads. “Friends are wonderful things. Happy birthday and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
While the purported Trump memo, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, featured the outline of a woman’s body, Kimmel’s memo featured the outline of an obese man, an apparent attack on the president’s physique. President Trump re-filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Journal over the publication of his birthday card in May after his first attempt was rejected in April.
The text of the 2003 memo was reportedly part of Epstein’s birthday greeting book, and read, “Voice Over: There must be more to life than having it all. Donald: Yes, there is, but I won’t tell you what it is. Jeffrey: I won’t tell you either because I know what it is. Donald: We have some things in common, Jeffrey. Jeffrey: Yes, that’s right, I’ll think about it. Donald: Enigma never ages, have you noticed that? Jeffrey: Actually, the last time I saw Donald, it became clear to me: Happy birthday, and every day could be another great secret.
This is not the first time Kimmel has criticized the relationship between the Trump family and Epstein. After first lady Melania Trump told reporters that “Epstein and I were never friends,” Kimmel aired a photo of Donald and Melania posing with Epstein on the April 9 episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“By the way, you’ve described how little you knew about Epstein, but is there any particular reason why he had a picture of you hanging up in his house? Maybe this is the picture that came with the frame, but I don’t know,” Kimmel said at the time. “Personally, when I look at this, I think these two people don’t know each other at all.”
