Pride Month just got a little more dateable.
TV veteran and fashion influencer Darren Kennedy has launched a new LGBTQ dating show, “Heyy Gay!,” premiering on YouTube and Instagram.
“In a world of swipes and algorithms, we felt it was the perfect time to create something that emphasizes real-life connections, spontaneity, and the fun of seeing what happens when two strangers meet face-to-face,” Kennedy said. “I’ve always had a knack for matchmaking in my personal life, maybe a uniquely Irish thing, so I was like, ‘Hey, gay!’ and it felt like the perfect opportunity to bring that instinct into my professional world.
“Now more than ever, it feels like there’s a longing for a connection that feels more human, more playful, more real. This show is about creating a space for that to happen.”
The series is produced by Mixtape Content House, a production company founded by former Hello Sunshine SVP of Unscripted Sue Kinkead and director Ryan Bunnell.
“Partnering with Darren on ‘Hey Gay!’ was a dream collaboration,” Kinkead said. “He brings fun, charm, a genuine interest in helping people connect, and unfiltered questions that everyone wants answered. And with one successful marriage already under his matchmaking belt, we couldn’t have asked for a better host.”
Kennedy is a contributing editor for The Daily Front Row. He has appeared on ‘Dancing with the Stars Ireland’, NBC’s ‘Access Daily’, BBC One’s ‘You Are What You Wear’, Virgin Media Television’s ‘The Six O Clock’ and ITV’s ‘This Morning’. His documentary Gay Daddy was described as a “watershed moment” in Irish television history. The Unemployables, co-created and hosted by Kennedy, was nominated for the European Broadcasting Union Award for Best New Television Format.
