Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for “Cowboy Saint,” episode 6 of “The Dutton Ranch,” currently streaming on Paramount+.
Last week’s “Dutton Ranch” was a big event. Rip (Cole Hauser) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) are both currently working at Beulah’s (Annette Bening) Ten Petal Ranch. But things aren’t easy as Rob Will (Jai Courtney) escapes from a rehab facility and quickly causes trouble. Get in the saddle and break down this week’s Routine Tootin’ episode!
This opening scene between Azul (JR Villarreal) and Delilah (Neila Cantu) is so heartwarming. Someone will definitely die and ruin the family’s dreams, right? A sad and delicate moment when Rip realizes he didn’t have time to teach Carter (Finn Little) how to fish. “Honey, you can’t do it yet.” Oh, I love you! Oh, and did Beulah and Everett (Ed Harris) sleep together? “Hats off to you”…I love this development! But please show me that scene next time! “I’ll leave the lights on, just in case.” Yeah, Beulah, I get it! I love the Cowboy Gala! Formal boots only! Can you imagine how bad this motel room with Chet (Hart Denton) and Rob Will stinks? Yay! Robwill seems to be trapped in a crucible of masculinity. He should find a cure! Oh Oleanna (Natalie Alyn Lind), you are always a bad influence on Carter! He just needs to talk to Beth and Rip! “I don’t think either of us really understand what love is.” Oh, that’s harsh! Is Joaquín (Juan Pablo Raba) choosing a new hat a metaphor? It seemed like a big moment, but I just saw a big hat… It’s always fun to see Beth do things like “Mad Men” and get what she wants. She read Zane Nash (Marlon Young) perfectly and helped Beulah close the deal. Fun teamwork! Damn, are Chet and Robwill starting a militia or something? Oz (Jared Bankens) has a lot of guns! This one handed rope was fun. The cowboys are all starting to get along! It’s nice to see Rip smiling too. There’s a lot of sexual tension in this night scene between Chet and Rob Will. Maybe it’s better to kiss instead of kill! Rest in peace, Chet. You were an idiot until the end because Miguel (Berto Colon) landed a headshot before killing Joaquin. How will Rob Will handle this news? Joaquin seems surprised that Lip had a gun in his truck. Hmm…that’s the least surprising thing about Rip that you can imagine! Beulah received the quote of the night (which also neatly sums up both this series and “Yellowstone”): “It’s hard to see a man love dirt more than blood.” Joaquin, buddy… you need to check out Rob Will more often! The lighting in this truck scene is lovely, giving it a noir-like feel. Be careful about confronting Beth about Jamie, Beulah!
Until next time, cowpoke!
