Dwayne Johnson recently revealed that he had a cancer scare that he hid from everyone, including his wife Lauren Hashian.
In a new interview with Esquire, the 54-year-old actor explained that he felt a lump in his testicle one day while taking a shower and “it hurt when I touched it.”
I went to the doctor 3 days later and was told it was most likely epididymitis. Epididymitis is an inflammation of the tubes that store sperm at the back of the testicles.
However, Johnson was also warned that he might have cancer and would need an ultrasound immediately, but that was not possible as he was booked all day for promotional events for the upcoming film Jumanji.
“So I had to endure that situation for those 24 hours without knowing anything, and I had to work all day and tell jokes and give speeches,” he told Esquire.
The former WWE star said he “didn’t talk to” Hashian, 41, about his health scare.
“I didn’t want her to worry before she even knew if she needed to be worried,” Johnson explained.
Johnson married Hashian in 2019 and they share daughters Jasmine, 10, and Tiana, 8, while Johnson is also father to daughter Simone, 24, from her previous marriage to Danny Garcia.
The ‘Smashing Machines’ star confirmed he is now ‘fine’ after the scare.
“But I didn’t know that at the time,” he said. “And it was really painful.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Johnson admitted that he uses ChatGPT to aid in his intense training.
“In less than three seconds, you’ll have a great training program back that will make you turn off the lights and drop the pencil,” he said. “That seems to be what I got from the 10 greatest coaches I’ve ever worked with.”
Johnson said ChatGPT’s “very specific” exercise plans led to “an exceptionally great workout.”
