AMC Theaters is postponing plans to simulcast a series of live concerts featuring performers including Bebe Rexha, Paris Hilton, Kim Petras and Maren Morris. The movie theater chain revised its plans after a string of summer releases such as “Back Rooms,” “Scary Movies” and “Obsession” topped box office sales, and ahead of the release of expected blockbusters such as “Toy Story 5.”
“Domestic box office results for 2026 are meeting or exceeding expectations week after week,” AMC said in a statement. “With a strong lineup of films in the coming weeks and strong advance ticket sales, AMC plans to make programming adjustments in June.”
The company had partnered with Arena One on a series called AMC Girls Night Live. AMC says the simulcast will be postponed to late 2026, and tickets purchased will be refunded.
“AMC is extremely excited about our partnership with Arena One and looks forward to announcing updated dates and additional artists in the coming weeks and months,” the company added.
The series was originally scheduled to begin with Lexa on June 17, followed by Hilton on June 18, Petras on June 19, and Morris on June 20. The concert was intended to serve as alternative content to supplement ticket sales. But with summer box office revenue up more than 13% year-over-year, the situation hasn’t been as dire since the coronavirus-induced drop in theatrical revenue. AMC believes that by delaying the series, it can make up for the slowdown in movies until late 2026.
