Charles Barkley dared ESPN to fire Cardi B after she made comments about her curvaceous figure during her halftime performance during Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
“You know, I hope they fire me,” the sports personality said on Wednesday’s episode of “The Dan Patrick Show.”
“I have six or seven years left on my contract and they know I don’t have a chance. I want them to let me go and they have to pay me for the next six or seven years.”
Barkley, 63, said no one from management contacted him about his comments. But he’s aware of the frenzy he’s caused online.
“Don’t you all get jokes?” he asked. “They can kiss my ass. I’m grateful for the support I’ve gotten over the years, but if anyone thinks like them, they’re idiots.
“So if people don’t like me or don’t have a sense of humor, you can kiss my ass,” the retired NBA star continued.
Meanwhile, Cardi B took to the court during halftime of the New York Knicks vs. San Antonio Spurs game at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Monday to perform her hits “Bodak Yellow” and “Bodega Buddy.”
The Grammy winner, 33, performed with the Knicks City Dancers in a plunging bustier and leggings, and Barkley couldn’t help but add a comment.
“I don’t know if that’s B. It could be Cardi D,” he joked about the hitmaker’s chest size.
“I’m sure they’re not B,” Barclay continued.
Media personalities “Inside the NBA” co-hosts Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson laughed off the remark, with Johnson saying, “I don’t know who said it, but I know it wasn’t me.”
Mr Barclay continued: “Her initials are wrong.”
The comment sparked a disagreement, with one criticizing Barkley, writing: “This guy is a grown adult and he’s ramming a cast on national TV like it’s 1995. It’s not funny, it’s not smart, it’s just sad.”
“Chuck is the only person who says such outlandish things and is still loved,” added another.
Game 4 of the NBA Finals will take place on June 10th, and will feature performances from the Wu-Tang Clan, with Taylor Swift among the star-studded attendees, Page Six exclusively reports.
