This showgirl returns to her hometown in the countryside.

Taylor Swift released her new song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack on Friday, and it felt like a “musical departure and coming home at the same time.”

The 36-year-old pop star posted an old Instagram video of herself dressed as the Jesse character from the movie series on Instagram, calling the project a “new challenge” that came “naturally.”

she said: “Being a @toystory kid from age 5 to now is an adventure I intend to continue on to infinity and beyond.

“Thank you to the brilliant[filmmaker]Andrew Stanton for imagining me when he wrote this latest film all those years ago,” Swift continued.

“Thank you to the incomparable @randynewmanofficial for the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores he has meticulously woven over the years,” the Grammy winner continued. “You created the musical world of Toy Story, and we are lucky to live in that world.”

The singer revealed that he wrote the song with his friend and frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff.

“We wrote this with great homage to these characters who made us laugh, taught us lessons throughout our childhoods, and helped us think outside of our backyards,” Swift told her followers. “Toy Story 5’s ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ is now available everywhere 🤠🐴”

The song’s release comes four days after the songwriter revealed to fans that the song was in the works.

“Ever since I saw the first Toy Story movie as a 5-year-old kid, I’ve dreamed of writing for my favorite characters,” she explained in an Instagram upload on Monday.

“I was lucky enough to see Toy Story 5 in its early stages and instantly fell in love with it. I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening,” Swift, who had been dropping hints for weeks, said at the time. “Sometimes you just know, right?”

The upbeat country song’s emotional lyrics are about reuniting with old friends.

“Love has a way of bringing things back to life,” she sings. “All you said was ‘hello’/And I remembered I loved you/I came back for the big time and saw you/Standing there in the window light with the same smile/Hey, it’s been a while.”

Notably, “Toy Story” will be released in theaters on June 19, the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single “Tim McGraw.”

The song appeared on her eponymous 2006 album, and Swift’s country streak continued with 2008’s “Fearless,” 2010’s “Speak Now,” and 2012’s “Red.”

Although Swift incorporated pop into these records, she didn’t officially transition from country to pop until she released 1989 in 2014.
