Spoiler alert: This story contains details about “Scary Movie 6,” now in theaters.
Carmen Electra is back for more Scary Movies.
The actress returns for the series’ sixth film after appearing in the first film’s now-iconic opening scene, playing Drew Barrymore in the original Scream. Electra later appeared in Scary Movie 4, one of three films in which Marlon and Sean Wayans were not involved after they were kicked out of the series by Harvey and Bob Weinstein in 2001.
“I’m so excited for this movie to be released,” Electra told me in a phone interview ahead of the Hollywood premiere of “Scary Movie 6” on Wednesday night. “It’s been tough. Obviously I’m going to have to call some of my closest friends, right? But I’m like, ‘I can’t tell anyone. I don’t want to get in trouble.'”
Elektra appears in the opening scene of the new movie starring Teyana Taylor. “I play the bartender who serves her drinks,” the former “Baywatch” star says. “Everyone loves fart jokes, so I farted (as she did in the previous movie). It was really fun.”
Electra says she was “shocked” by Taylor.
“Her body is crazy, by the way. Crazy and ridiculous,” Electra says. “When she came in, her stomach was showing in the scene and it was tight. I can’t stand sitting there with my stomach out. She’s got a six-pack and she’s so bubbly in the movie. I mean, she just walks away.”
“Scary Movie 6” sees the return of the Wayans family to the series. “They didn’t kill me in this movie, so I have to come back for the next one,” Electra says.
Interestingly, Electra said that when they were initially casting Scary Movie 6, she heard that they were looking for a “Carmen Electra type.” “Then they said, ‘Why don’t we just get her?'” she says. “It all happened so fast. I was on the road and came home, but I immediately got back on the plane and flew to Atlanta to shoot.”
I ask Electra to name her favorite memory from filming her first movie. “There were a lot of surprises, including the Prince part,” she says of the gag featuring a Prince lookalike and a reference to the two dating in the early 1990s. “I remember thinking he was going to be really mad if I did something like this. But Prince actually thought it was really funny.”
Elektra’s past calendars also include her posing for Playboy magazine after first undressing for a men’s magazine in 1996. She appears in the July issue, fully clothed but sexy in leather and lace, answering readers’ questions about sex and dating.
And then there’s the Baywatch reboot. “I would love to go back to Baywatch. I think it would be really fun,” Electra says.[Returning star]David Chokachi was my love interest, so I could see him coming back in a few episodes. I think that’s really great. ”
