FX has greenlit “The Wedding Plot,” a limited series based on Jeffrey Eugenides’ 2011 novel of the same name. Sadie Sink will star in the project, written by Will Arbery and directed by Hiro Murai, which will be available on Hulu.
According to the official description, “The Marriage Plot” tells the story of “three recent college graduates who find themselves embroiled in an all-consuming love triangle as they reconcile their youthful romantic aspirations with impending adulthood and make life-altering choices about love and identity.”
Sink, Arbery and Murai will all executive produce for Borderless Pictures along with Steven Prinz and Rachel Jacobs. Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman of Aggregate Film. Eugenides. and Carver Karaszewski and Claudia Shin of Cham Films. Fan Yiyi will serve as the producer. A24 is producing the series in association with FX Productions.
Sink is best known for playing Max Mayfield in Netflix’s Stranger Things, with other notable credits including Darren Aronofsky’s 2022 film The Whale, Broadway’s John Proctor and Romeo & Juliet in the West End. In 2021, she appeared opposite Dylan O’Brien in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film. He will next appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and will serve as an executive producer on Universal’s film adaptation of John Proctor is the Villain. She is repped by WME and Imprint.
Arbery is a screenwriter on HBO’s “Succession” and wrote the critically acclaimed 2019 play “Heroes of the Fourth Turning.” In December, FX greenlit his original series “Seven Sisters.” He is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360 and Ziffren Brittenham.
Murai served as director and producer on FX’s “Atlanta,” and also collaborated with Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, on the 2018 music video “This Is America.” He recently produced and directed Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay and is currently developing his feature debut samurai film Bushido at A24. He is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
