Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacher have signed all-discipline contracts with UTA, Variety reported. The duo will continue to be repped by Goodman Genow Shenkman’s Adventure Media and Alison Binder.
Halpern and Schumacher and their company, Delicious Non-Sexual Productions, currently have an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. They serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on ABC’s hit comedy “Abbott Elementary,” along with series creator and star Quinta Brunson. The show recently aired season 5 and has already been renewed for a sixth season. It has also received four consecutive Emmy nominations for Best Comedy Series.
Mr. Halpern and Mr. Schumacher previously co-created the acclaimed HBO Max-DC Entertainment series “Harley Quinn,” starring Kaley Cuoco, and the spinoff series “The Kite Man: Hell Yeah!” No strangers to the DC world, the pair also served as showrunners on the NBC series “Powerless.” They are also known for co-creating shows such as FOX’s “Surviving Jack” and CBS’s “S*** My Dad Says,” the latter based on the book of the same name written by Halpern.
Next, they plan to adapt Halpern’s book “I Suck at Girls” as a comedy series for Netflix. They are co-creators and co-showrunners on the series, with Bill Lawrence also serving as executive producer through his overall deal with Doozer Productions and WBTV. Halpern’s debut novel, Get Lost, will be published by Hachette Book Group on July 7th. The company is currently developing a film version of the book, and plans to direct the film as well.
Halpern and Schumacher’s additional credits include “iZombie,” “Cougar Town” and “How to Be a Gentleman.” They also wrote the feature “Birthright” for Universal Pictures and Skybound.
