View TV Studios, the production and distribution company behind View TV ONE, has signed a deal to acquire the U.S. rights to AGC Television’s spy thriller Gray, starring Patricia Clarkson, Rupert Everett and Lydia West.
The eight-part series will premiere on View TV ONE in a weekly 9pm slot beginning Saturday, May 23, with each episode available on demand the following day.
“Gray” is the story of Cornelia Gray (Clarkson), a CIA spy who has been in hiding for 20 years and comes from a frigid place to avoid government officials who suspect her to be a traitor. She returns to her old life, just as it turns out that there is a new spy in her old spy network.
Clarkson, whose credits include “Sharp Objects,” “House of Cards,” “Six Feet Under,” “Pieces of April,” and “Easy A,” has won a Golden Globe Award, three Emmy Awards, and an Oscar nomination. Everett has been nominated for a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and an Olivier Award, and his credits include The Rivals, My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Perfect Husband, and The Happy Prince. West, who was nominated for a BAFTA Television Award, has appeared in The Big Mood, He Had It Coming and It’s a Sin.
Rounding out the principal cast are Wendy Crewson, Sean Doyle, Tim Rozon, Jamal Grant, and Benjamin Sutherland.
“The Grey” was directed by Luba Nadda and written by John J. McLaughlin, based on an idea by best-selling author David Baldacci. The series is executive produced by Ruba Nadda, Baldacci, Mark Schmuger, Clarkson, John J. McLaughlin, Timo Argylander, Elisa Alvarez, Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and Miguel A. Palos Jr., and produced by Teresa Ho.
“‘The Grey’ is a first-class spy thriller with an outstanding cast, led by Patricia Clarkson, Rupert Everett and Lydia West,” said Simon Knight, CEO of View TV Studios. “It has all the makings of a standout series: a compelling premise, world-class talent and true audience appeal. We’re excited to bring ‘Grey’ to View TV ONE, Kapang.com and our broader distribution network, making it available to all viewers across the country.”
