Cliff Booth is returning to the big screen. The unofficial title of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, will premiere on IMAX this Thanksgiving.
Netflix has announced that the film will be shown exclusively on Imax screens for two weeks starting November 25th, before hitting the streamer on December 23rd.
“Cliff Booth,” which once again stars longtime stuntman and Oscar-winner Brad Pitt, will take over the theatrical slot from another Netflix standout, Greta Gerwig’s “The Chronicles of Narnia.” The Chronicles of Narnia, previously scheduled for Thanksgiving 2026, has been pushed back to 2027, marking Netflix’s first traditional theatrical release. While Netflix appears to be showing some favor to movie theaters, with token releases for the final episodes of KPop Demon Hunters and Stranger Things, company insiders stress that the company’s strategy of prioritizing all things streaming remains unchanged.
AMC, which until recently refused to schedule movies from Netflix, will be among the major movie theater chains to show “Cliff Booth.”
David Fincher will direct Cliff Booth, which was written by Tarantino. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the logline hints that the story is set in 1977, “and it’s a very different Hollywood.” It follows the events of the original, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Pitt playing an aging actor and his longtime stuntman struggling to find a place in show business. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood pays homage to Hollywood’s Golden Age, and is set in the late 1960s against the backdrop of the Manson family murders. (Margot Robbie plays Sharon Tate, an up-and-coming actress who marries director Roman Polanski and moves in next door with the boys.)
Pitt will star in “Cliff Booth” along with Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, J.B. Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis and Karen Karagulian.
