Vietnam’s Da Nang Asian Film Festival will hold its 4th and first two-day industrial program “DANAFF Industry Days” in June this year, bringing together 10 Vietnamese production companies and inviting international buyers for slate presentations and one-on-one business meetings.
The program, scheduled for June 30 and July 1, during the festival that will be held in Da Nang from June 28 to July 4, will be based on the project market introduced by DANAFF in 2025. The event began with a keynote speech on the Vietnamese film market, featuring Galaxy Studios, CJ CGV Vietnam, BHD|Vietnam Media Corporation, Mockingbird Pictures, HKFilm and 89sGROUP. A dedicated panel series ‘DANAFF Industry Talks’ examines the dynamics, opportunities and challenges facing Vietnamese and Southeast Asian cinema.
Jeremy Segay, a veteran Asian film industry expert appointed as an advisor for the new programme, said: “Vietnam’s film sector has reached a stage where a dedicated industry platform is essential as international interest in understanding its dynamics continues to expand. At the same time, local filmmakers are gaining confidence, skill and ambition, and have clear potential to travel beyond the diaspora audience. For this first edition, we aim to welcome 25 international buyers.”
Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairman of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) and Director of DANAFF, said: “By launching DANAFF Industry Days, we are establishing a platform to foster both creative and business exchanges between Vietnamese film professionals and their peers within and outside the region. The program is designed to provide international participants with a practical framework to connect with key players in the industry and discover what Vietnamese cinema has to offer next year, while experiencing the festival in the vibrant coastal city of Da Nang.” There is also an option to extend your stay to participate in the DANAFF Project Market, which will be held on July 2nd and 3rd. ”
Alongside Industry Day, the festival’s program includes the Asian Film Competition, Vietnam Film Competition, DANAFF Talents, and a series of international seminars. Identified topics include a focus on American cinema, an overview of Vietnamese film production in the 40 years since the Gi Moi reform, and panel discussions on digital technology, AI, and intellectual property protection. The full selection will be announced at a press conference in Hanoi on June 2nd.
