“Testament” has been renewed for season 2 on Hulu.
The series, which is a sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” originally debuted in April. News of this update comes just before the Season 1 finale, scheduled to air on May 27th.
The series stars Ann Dowd, Chase Infinity, Lucy Halliday, Mabel Lee, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarin Darnell Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardeez, Shechina Mpumulwana, Bilva Pandya, and Kira Groyen. “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss returns in a surprise guest appearance, reprising her role as June Osborne.
The show’s logline states that the series “follows Agnes (Infinity), a loyal and pious teenager, and Daisy (Halliday), a newly arrived convert from across the border of Gilead, who is in love with Lydia for his future wife. As they roam the gilded hallways of Auntie (Dowd)’s elite prep school, a place where obedience is brutally but always accompanied by divine righteousness, their bond turns their past, present, and future upside down.
Like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Testament” is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name. Bruce Miller created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Warren Littlefield, Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears and Mike Barker also serve as executive producers. Barker also directed the first three episodes and the final episode. “The Testaments” is produced by MGM Television and 20th Television.
“Testament” has received mostly positive reviews from critics since its debut, and Disney says viewers have now streamed more than 45 million hours of the show globally through Hulu and Disney+.
