Sox Entertainment has acquired distribution rights to Stronger Than You Think, an emotional sports documentary that tells the story of star Paralympic swimmer Ali Twitt.

Truwitt made international headlines at the 2024 Paris Paralympics by competing as a swimmer (and winning two silver medals) just one year after losing her lower left leg in a shark attack while swimming in the Turks and Caicos Islands in May 2023. Truwitt, a native of Connecticut, had just graduated from Yale University two days earlier with a double major in cognitive science and behavioral economics. She was already an accomplished swimmer who competed at Yale University.

Since then, Truewitt, 26, has become a magnet for brands and sponsors. She started the nonprofit organization Stronger Than You Think to support her mission to use her story of recovery from a tragic setback as an example for other women and girls. The “Stronger Than You Think” documentary was directed by Emmy Award winners Janice C. Molinari and Melissa Forman. Produced by Allez! Sports, Forman and Alison J. Davis.

“This film is for everyone who is fighting for their second chance, for everyone who is trying to turn hardship into hope, for everyone who is working to change this world. I hope that everyone who watches this film walks away accepting what I know to be true: that we are all stronger than we think we are,” said Truewitt.

Mr. Truewitt has signed sponsorship deals with blue-chip brands such as Nike and has participated in corporate speaking tours for leading companies such as Amazon, Merck, and Bank of America. Last fall, Truwitt ran the New York City Marathon using a running blade prosthesis. She has also been featured as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model for the past two years. She plans to publish her book in 2028 with St. Martin’s Press. And Truwitt is widely expected to compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics. She also worked as a business analyst for McKinsey & Company.

Sox Entertainment, led by CBS and Paramount veteran Scott Kundel, plans to sell “Stronger Than You Think” to a wide range of potential partners.

As of now, the film is showing at summer and fall festivals. Stronger has previously won the Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival, Best Documentary at the Beaufort International Film Festival, and Best Documentary Feature at the Garden State Film Festival. It will be screened at festivals in Nashville, Newport Beach, Sedona and Beverly Hills, as well as Chicago Women’s Fest, Big Apple Film Festival and Sports International Film Festival.

“We are honored and excited to bring this compelling documentary to market. Ali’s resilient determination to overcome such adversity will inspire and entertain all viewers across all media platforms,” said Kuunder.
