A special anniversary gift from Prince Harry to Meghan Markle took center stage on the royal family’s Instagram Stories as the couple celebrated their eighth anniversary together.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, revealed that her husband gifted her a sculpture of two penguins cuddling while holding a card that read, “My one and only.”
She used a video to tell her daughter Princess Lilibet about her 2017 engagement party and explain the meaning behind the gift.
“When Mum and Dad got engaged, we had a party with all our friends and we all wore animal costumes,” she said, adding that she and Harry were penguins.
In a follow-up video, she posed as a figure behind a Polaroid snap of a couple wearing penguin costumes.
Finally, Markle unveiled her gift by sharing a close-up of an old photo of her standing next to tall Prince Harry, 41, taking a mirror selfie.
It’s worth noting that some species of penguins, like the macaroni penguin, are known to mate with one partner for life, according to the National Aquarium.
Earlier on Tuesday, the “With Love, Meghan Markle” star celebrated the couple’s wedding anniversary in a touching Instagram post sharing never-before-seen photos from their big wedding day.
She shared a few snaps of their first dance, in which they twirled together and wrapped their arms gently around each other.
The couple were also spotted kissing as wedding guests joined them on the dance floor.
She then posted a second post sharing an intimate photo from their wedding, where they conversed after exchanging vows and took wedding photos together.
In one lovey-dovey photo, Harry leans in to kiss his bride after giving a toast.
On May 19, 2018, Prince Harry and Markle wed in front of friends and family at St George’s Chapel in England.
