“The Fall” and “Shazam!” star Grace Caroline Curry will lead the cast of VMI Worldwide’s new crime thriller “Dead Miles,” to be released at the Cannes market.
The film, produced by Mind’s Eye Entertainment, will be directed and written by Tom Levesque (“Shut Eye”) and will begin production in British Columbia.
Curry plays Ellen, a woman struggling in the gig economy whose aspirations to become an online influencer take a dark and dangerous turn when she meets Nelson, an unstable and unpredictable criminal. He drags her into a brutal night of violent robbery, forcing her to face how far she’s willing to go and what she’s capable of when she gets there.
The film will be produced by Kevin DeWalt and Benjamin DeWalt of Minds Eye Entertainment, Eva Trebilco of Lumin Productions and executive producer Emma Slade of Velvet Moss.
“Grace Caroline Curry brings the vulnerability, grounding and visceral intensity needed to this role. After her outstanding performance in The Fall, we knew she was the perfect person to navigate the dark and high-stakes underworld of Dead Miles,” said DeWalt. “We are thrilled to once again partner with VMI Worldwide to bring this timely and gripping thriller to the global market at Cannes.”
VMI CEO Andre Lelis added, “Minds Eye Entertainment continues to produce quality genre films and is our preferred production partner. We look forward to screening new Minds Eye films at Cannes.”
VMI Worldwide will begin international sales at the Cannes market and present the project to buyers with principal photography to begin shortly thereafter.
The film is an agreement co-production between Canada and New Zealand. Filming will take place in various locations across British Columbia.
